Audrey Semel
Bio: I am a 28-year old Greenfield community member (born and raised north of Pittsburgh but have bounced around the country a bit before moving to Greenfield in the summer of 2020) and have fallen in love with the neighborhood. I am a public health professional currently working at Pittsburgh Public Schools as a COVID Data Manager. I love hiking, sci-fy, animals, and good conversation with a cup of coffee! Would love to get involved in the GCA to give back to a place that’s been so good to me.
Why do you want to join the GCA?
I have always found immense satisfaction in community involvement and service. I would really value getting to serve the Greenfield community and to get to know more of my neighbors.
Yitzy Idell
Bio: Yitzy Idell along with his wife and 4 children have been Greenfield residents since 2014. Yitzy and his family hail from South Florida for many years. After new opportunities were presented, they took the leap of faith of moving from the sunny pastures of Florida to the more seasonal weathered Greenfield, PA. Yitzy owns and operates a local traveling and mobile notary service called Pittsburgh Notary Services. Yitzy and his family are active members of Bnai Emunoh Chabad. Yitzy is a firm believer in making a difference in the community we live in. In pursuit of becoming a GCA board member, he would like to have an influence in maintaining and enhancing the Greenfield community into a safe and exciting place to live in.
Why do you want to join the GCA?
In my time here I’ve seen certain hazards for pedestrians and drivers. I would love to be a voice for change.
Matt Mahoney
Bio: Matt Mahoney grew up in a small town north of Pittsburgh and moved to Greenfield in 2012 with his wife. He was interested in joining the GCA after volunteering for the Greenfield Glide and helping out during local community events. Matt has a Masters Degree in Renewable Energy and Sustainable Systems from Penn State and works in government affairs and public policy. Matt’s children attend Greenfield Elementary School and actively participates in extracurricular activities. Matt enjoys bringing the Greenfield Community together to build a sense of belonging for all.
Why do you want to join the GCA?
To build friendships and showcase the already strong sense of community.
Gina Godfrey
Bio: I have lived in Greenfield for over 20 years, starting shortly after I moved to Pittsburgh to attend law school at Pitt. When my husband and I were looking to buy a home, we knew we wanted the real sense of community that Greenfield provides. Our children attended Greenfield school where I served on the PTO, and now go to Allderdice. I served on the board for Connect Greenfield and currently serve as a Democratic Committee member and as the Majority Inspector of Elections for my district.
Why do you want to join the GCA?
I am interested in having an active role in making our community a better place for all residents.
Isaac Smith
Bio: Isaac Smith, a 32 year old Greenfield Community member moved to Greenfield with this partner and two cats in 2019. Isaac is a Pittsburgh native, growing up north of the city but spending the last 10 years living and working in the city. Isaac can say with confidence that Greenfield has been his favorite place to live with its lively neighbors, beautiful views, and great sense of community. When Isaac is not walking his two cats around the block or tending to his garden, you will see him and his partner running around the neighborhood training for the Pittsburgh Marathon. Got to love those Greenfield Hills! I want to join the GCA to help build a better Greenfield for everyone that calls this lovely neighborhood home. I’m currently an active member of of the Greenfield Development Committee with and interest in supporting our local businesses and advocating for better services such as transportation and greenspace.
Why do you want to join the GCA?
I would love to contribute my experience working in sustainability, community development, and planning to serve the community of Greenfield. I also have experience working with the City of Pittsburgh, local non-profits, and local funders in addition to skills in event planning, and graphic design that could be useful to the GCA. I see Greenfield as my long term home! I would like to join GCA to continue to make Greenfield a community that meets the needs of all it’s residents now and into the future.
Catherine Adams
Bio: Catherine landed in Pittsburgh in 2018 after working in community development with the US Peace Corps. She moved to Greenfield in 2020. Since living in the neighborhood, she’s been a community advocate for safer streets and was instrumental in having 11 abandoned vehicles removed from an undeveloped lot near Calvary Cemetery. Originally from the Detroit area, Catherine is happy to be back and settled in the Great Lakes region. She loves Greenfield’s central location in the East End, its proximity to Schenley and Frick Parks, and, most of all, its friendly neighbors. As an avid walker and cyclist, she values green space, safe streets, and accessible public transit. Catherine believes in the power of community to shape and grow an equitable, sustainable future. She has a Master’s degree in linguistics and works as a technical writer from the home she owns with her husband.
Why do you want to join the GCA?
I’m looking forward to working with other community members to improve Greenfield and help envision and realize the future of the neighborhood.
Kristopher Olson
Bio: Kristopher is a Greenfield resident and an active volunteer with many local organizations. His most recent volunteerism includes a role as a math tutor with the Latino Community Center, a 2022 Winter Snow Angel, and a free tax preparer for Just Harvest. He has been a member of his union’s Professional Standards committee since 2017. In his time off, he enjoys hiking with his two dogs, biking, and, playing pickup soccer games. Greenfield, with its proximity to large greenspaces like Schenley, attracted him to the area early on. The neighborhood feel is what made him and his partner, Brooke, decide to buy their first home on McCaslin Street, after renting on Beechwood Boulevard. He is most interested in working with the business committee to attract new businesses to Greenfield’s commercial districts.
Why do you want to join the GCA?
I love Greenfield’s location and amenities. Specifically, I love the character and convenience of local Greenfield businesses – like J. Gough’s, Hough’s, Greenfield Vet/Grooming, Audrina’s, and Rialto’s. I want to work within the Association to support these businesses, and also assess opportunities for more business activity in our neighborhood. We have some empty store fronts, that I believe can be filled with the Associations help!
David Cashmere
David has been an active member of the Public Space Committee since 2012, and was co-chair of this committee from 2016 to 2018. As well, he has been an active Board member of the GCA since 2018. David is a current Garden Stewart with the Western PA Conservancy. He’s helped organize volunteers and supply material for clean-ups and plantings for years along with other Public Spaces core members. In 2017 he received GCA’s “Get It Done” Award and also received a Community Citation of Recognition from Allegheny county. David is a veteran of the United States Navy and earned his degree from University of Pittsburgh in Psychology and Neuroscience. He’s worked at Western Psychiatric Hospital for over 30 years in the Sleep and Behavioral Neuroscience Center and has lived in Greenfield since 1998. David is a compassionate and giving person who also is a dog coach volunteer with the Animal Rescue League in his spare time.
